Hello. This is Rurimon, a
kimono remake shop in Aoba-dai, Yokohama.
A customer gave us a wool formal suit that her father used to wear, saying "I wonder if you could use this for something? If not, please throw it away." The garment is apparently over 80 years
old. The sturdy wool fabric, the tailoring... none of it seems like it could be 80 years old! The craftsmanship of the past is truly amazing! The fabric hasn't deteriorated at all. Unfortunately,
it had aged a bit too much to remake into women's clothing, so we couldn't use it at Rurimon, but it seemed far too wasteful to simply discard it. I thought it must be a precious memento of her
father, so I deconstructed it and made a tissue box cover from the usable parts. It was transformed into a lovely striped cover! I hope it will help her feel her father's presence close by in her
daily life.
