Remake a gathered skirt from a sō-shibori kimono

Hello. We are Rurimon, a kimono remake studio in Aobadai, Yokohama. We received a vibrant, deep red fully-shibori-dyed kimono fabric and tailored it into a gathered skirt. The fabric is incredibly eye-catching, but fully shibori fabric is extremely difficult to work with. On top of that, this piece was made as an unlined single-layer garment, which meant the seam finishing on the inside required particularly delicate craftsmanship. From pattern matching to every fine detail, it was truly a showcase of artisan skill.
We think it has come together beautifully as a stunning spring piece!
