Remaking pants from pure silk kimono fabric

Hello. We are Rurimon, a kimono remake studio based in Aobadai, Yokohama.
We received a beautifully and firmly woven pure silk kimono and remade it into a pair of pants. We had a sample pair of pants to work from, so it was a one-shot attempt with no basting fitting! The fabric has both vertical and horizontal patterns, but as is characteristic of hand-woven textiles, matching the pattern is quite challenging. We did our best to align the horizontal pattern along the hems at the front, back, left, and right — and that is precisely what gives hand-woven fabric its depth and charm.
Since the pure silk fabric is firm and substantial, and we have also added a lining, we believe you will be able to enjoy wearing them for many years to come.
