Remake a bag from a black obi

Hello. This is Rurimon, based in Aoba-dai, Yokohama, specializing in remaking kimono into Western-style clothing.

We've had a series of orders to remake black obi (kimono sashes) into bags. This time, the order was for a bag with a detachable shoulder strap.

Actually, the customer's mother had previously had a bag made from the same obi, in the same design and size, and there was just enough fabric left over to make one more bag. We decided to use it all up! (As the maker, I'm always touched and grateful for clients who value even small scraps of fabric.) So this leftover fabric became the daughter's bag.

At the daughter's request, we added a detachable shoulder strap—something the mother's bag didn't have. Adding hardware really changes the whole impression of a piece. I'm sure that black obi is delighted too!
